It looks like our friends over at (an)droidlife got the scoop on some stores receiving their alotment of Samsung’s latest Android device, the Continuum on Verizon. What makes this phone special is that it forgoes the typical 4″ SuperAMOLED screen we have seen on the Galaxy S series for a 3.4″ SuperAMOLED and it adds a 1.8″ “ticker/notification” screen below the capacitive buttons. This unique design is certainly interesting and begs to be explored further, I can’t wait to get hands-on with it, Some think its a gimmick others think its just odd and not entirely useful, My only question/concern is how easy is accessing the secondary screen going to be for developers, If the screen is only going to be accessible from Samsung apps that does limit it severely, but we’ll see… check out the unboxing shots after the break… Continue reading “Samsung’s latest Verizon device the Continuum being delivered to stores” »
The LG Optimus T and Motorola Defy Android powered smartphones are available from the nation’s largest retailer for very reasonable amounts! Both phones are being billed as Entry level devices to bring customers from the Feature phones into the Smartphone fold. Being sold at a retailer like Walmart really helps T-Mobile get into the hands of more American’s with little up front cost to them. T-Mobile is gaining some 3800 retail locations, depending on how many actual Walmart locations will carry the phones. Continue after the breat. Today is a big day for Android OTA updates. Samsung, HTC and Motorola all roll out OTA updates for some of their premier handsets.



Samsung and AT&T have announced an OTA update to correct GPS issues as well as media scanning and including a full version of Quick Office as well as correcting some Microsoft Exchange 2003 policy support issues. Verizon announced that it would begin rolling out the official Android 2.2 (FroYo) update to Droid X customers today at Noon (12pm) EST though it has been available to pull and install OTA since Midnight. As far as the HTC Evo 4G update, The update is said to fix a few minor bugs including issues not allowing multiple Gmail accounts to sync properly as well as Calender event editing issues.

According to reports LG may be bringing its latest Android handset to the nations largest CDMA carrier, Verizon. This past week LG’s CEO resigned due to lack luster sales in the mobile division but this may be turning point for LG as they are launching the Optimus line stateside. The LG Optimus on Verizon’s network will be dubbed the Vortex.
