Good news! of course this is excellent news for the Google TV crowd as Intel is a launch partner for Google TV and they have already announced Atom chips/sets will be powering this first generation… It also bodes will for the netbook and smartbook markets… and what the heck I’m sure there is someone out there working on an Atom Tablet… so all in all good news on the OS front from Intel!
Intel has been prepping a port of Android 2.2 for their x86 Atom architecture, and says they are aiming for a summer release. Their hope is that a quick release of an Atom-ready version of the raved about latest edition of Android OS will entice manufacturers of netbooks and tablets to use a combination of Intel hardware and Google’s operating system for their upcoming endeavors.

Oh oh oh! Finally something not smartphone related on the Android front today and a product I have been drooling over since its announcement at Google I/O last month! The “Logitech Revue with Google TV“… I can’t wait to get one of these puppies in my living room. Ok, ok, ok we all know its not going in the living room, the kids aren’t allowed near it, Bedroom all the way besides I have a bigger TV in there… read, drool, brains… oh wait I’m not a zombie YET!
Sidled up to Logitech at the Digital Experience event in New York City, and lookie what we found — the Logitech Revue Google TV set-top box. OK, so it’s not plugged into a TV or anything, but it’s still nice to actually pick up the device and get a feel for how it might look among our home-entertainment system. We’ll worry about how it works — and eventually how it runs Android apps — later this year. Check it out, after the break.
