It looks like our friends over at (an)droidlife got the scoop on some stores receiving their alotment of Samsung’s latest Android device, the Continuum on Verizon. What makes this phone special is that it forgoes the typical 4″ SuperAMOLED screen we have seen on the Galaxy S series for a 3.4″ SuperAMOLED and it adds a 1.8″ “ticker/notification” screen below the capacitive buttons. This unique design is certainly interesting and begs to be explored further, I can’t wait to get hands-on with it, Some think its a gimmick others think its just odd and not entirely useful, My only question/concern is how easy is accessing the secondary screen going to be for developers, If the screen is only going to be accessible from Samsung apps that does limit it severely, but we’ll see… check out the unboxing shots after the break… Continue reading “Samsung’s latest Verizon device the Continuum being delivered to stores” »
US Cellular and Samsung announced today that they will be delivering a Galaxy Tab to their customers, No official release date or pricing information was given however this is definitely another step in the right direction for this partnership between Samsung and US Cellular. Obviously for Samsung its another outlet for their hardware and will get it into more customers hands, with over 6 million potential customers through the carrier Samsung will be able to cut costs based on volume production, even though each carrier has specific variations they all start with almost identical hardware that vary rarely diverges (radios to talk to specific carriers cell networks) making this an easy choice. For US Cellular they are able to offer top of the line hardware and products that are cutting edge and depending on how they price it may even be able to cut into the sales of some of the big 4 carriers where US Cellular is popular. All in all I think its a great decision to carry the Galaxy Tab and its a winner for everyone involved. Check out the full press release after the break.
I was so glad to see a wonderful little box left on my doorstep by UPS today, It was my Logitech Revue with GoogleTV! I like many others have been waiting for this since Google’s announcement at I/O earlier this year. First impressions are pretty good, its not perfect by any means but such is the life of an early adopter, It was very easy to install and the keyboard is pretty good, I would like to see a rechargable battery pack/charging station accessory some time in the future as of right now it runs on 2 AA batteries, Setup was easy as pie just followed the on screen prompts and it only took about 10-15 minutes with a system update. Without further ado I’ll let you take a look at this sleek little device…
Tweetdeck has released its Android application to beta. After much anticipation Tweetdeck finally released the Android version of its popular Social networking client in an open beta. Though only a beta the interface shows a lot of polish and the application has possibilites, At this point its missing a few features and its not functional enough for me to switch from my current twitter client. I still think you should get yourself signed up and try it out though as I can’t get enough of the Windows PC client. The Key feature is Native Facebook Notifications, As many of you know Facebook’s integration with Android hasn’t been the most pleasant experience as many people note the biggest issue with the Official Facebook App is its horrible notifications support. You also get All your social services in a single app.
[UPDATE] Tweetdeck has released an update to their open beta application, now with font resize and better mapping http://bit.ly/9mDhmF.
