Seriously? Isn’t Android about being open and innovating? No wonder AT&T isn’t a member of the OHA. It figures that AT&T would rather break out the knee pads for Mr Jobs than to embrace openness of course this should really come as no surprise and I’d ALMOST be willing to bet that its some back room shady deal with Apple but of course thats complete conjecture… Anyways I really dislike the fact that AT&T is even putting Android devices out like this its crippling and annoying not to mention gives people a bad impression of Android if they don’t know any better… My parents are on AT&T and have iPhones (3GS) I used to have an iPhone 3GS as well but then after getting the screen repaired it died and I wasn’t about to sink another nickel into it… so my wife said lets switch you over to my plan with Verizon… I have a Motorola Droid now and couldn’t be happier… WHY? Its open! Its a GREAT phone (I had several Moto phones I hated, pretty much every one since the StarTac), Its rugged, Its usable, Its easy to add and remove software on the fly I can have ANY SMS tone I want not 1 of 6 that apple chooses… I could go on for days… weeks… months… I have also diverged from the original topic… I apologize. Seriously AT&T why do you limit the choices your customers have? Why do you shove the iPhone in everyones face? Again complete conjecture and opinion here but I just have a nagging feeling that there is some shady deal with AT&T and Apple.

It seems as though several sites are reporting new a build getting OTA’d to Nexus One owners, It seems to start with Unlocked and T-Mobile users but it seems to have trickeled to AT&T users as well
According to Engadget:
We’ve been receiving numerous tips over the last hour that Nexus One owners on AT&T bands are receiving an over-the-air update for Android 2.2 FRF85, otherwise known as the “bulletproofed” Froyo build. No confirmation at this point, and since you’re asking, no word yet either on an update for the larger T-Mobile N1 install base (though we’ve had at least one report of a user on FRF50 getting the OTA today). We’ve pinged Google for answers, will let ya know what we hear.
Engadget:
Android 2.2 Froyo FRF85 now available for Nexus One (update: official)
Android and Me: AT&T and T-Mobile Nexii recieve and OTA Update (FRF85B)

Here is a nice write-up on the Samsung entry into the “superphone” arena… Interesting that it will be coming to several stateside carriers possibly even VZW though I would be surprised as Verizon has alot of high-end smartphones and several more in the works… But hey competition can’t hurt right?
…For starters, the Galaxy S has pure numbers on side. While the EVO and Droid X are exclusive to their respective carriers, we should see a version of the Galaxy S on all four Tier 1 carriers in the U.S. and over 100 more around the globe. AT&T will launch the Captivate this summer, Sprint will offer the Galaxy S Pro as their second 4G phone, T-Mobile will finally land a high end-phone with the Vibrant, and we are still waiting to see what Verizon does…
