Android-Froyo

Several developments over the last week have come about. HTC and Motorola are starting to roll out Android 2.2 (Froyo) to some of their devices and they have both announced future plans as well as Samsung giving us some official news about its 2.2 plans.

Samsung’s Galaxy S series of phones should be seeing its Froyo update in September, The UK Samsung twitter account was responsible for the announcement which could mean only the international version, however with the recent open sourcing of US versions and the hardware & software similarity I would expect the it to be close if not the same time.

Unlocked European HTC Desire owners should have started to get updates this past weekend and will continue throughout the week, Along with Froyo there is 720p Video recording, HTC’s App Share widget and iTunes sync via HTC Sync. Carrier specific versions should roll out in the coming weeks.

HTC’s EVO 4G starts to roll Tuesday August 3rd Officially though there are reports that users started getting it over the weekend.

Verizon and Motorola Officially announced on Friday that the original Droid would start to see its OTA update on Monday August 2nd. This announcement was late in the game on Friday many think it was in reaction to HTC and Sprint announcing plans to release the EVO 4G Froyo update as noted above.

Motorola also leaked that the Droid X will get its Froyo update in “Late Summer” though there are no specifics and it wasn’t really an announcement since they just added it to the list in the link.

Rumor – GSM EVO 4G or Droid Inc. could hit world market

July 10th, 2010 Aaron View Comments

AndroidGuys caught wind of a new HTC device that could be headed to the world market. 2 Sites are giving conflicting reports however, One saying that this may be an EVO 4G another stating that its an Incredible form factor device, either way  its good news for the world GSM market though to be sure neither of these so called “Ace” phones will sport the originally touted AMOLED screens from their US counterpart (simply because HTC can”t get them from Samsung as they seem to be keeping the supply for all their Galaxy S variants). I like seeing more phones for everyone this really could help our neighbors up north on Rogers and Bell since they have limited offerings in the “Superphone”  category, while the Canadian companies have Android offerings and could in fact benefit from these I would like to point out that it hasn’t been mentioned anywhere its just a conclusion I have come to.

Update: The EVO’s 30FPS Limitation is an Incurable Hardware Restriction | AndroidGuys

Hilarity ensues as AndroidGuys gets a correction from a trusted source @ HTC, While the HTC EVO 4G can bypass the 30fps limitation is must be done via a rooted hack. With a wonderful sandlot reference the team at AndroidGuys has posted a more revised article with a bit of fun attached please check it out below!

After publishing a story yesterday on the pesky frame rate issue that is plaguing the HTC EVO, I was informed by the individual at HTC who originally provided me with the information for yesterday’s article that my story was not entirely correct.

A Story Of Revenge: One of the Luckiest EVO Owners Ever

June 26th, 2010 Aaron View Comments

What a story! Just check it out

I was playing basketball when someone must have taken it out of my bag (I think it was right on top and possibly visible). I realized it probably 15-20 minutes after it was gone. I confronted the group of people and told them that I just wanted my phone back. Didn’t care if they stole it, I wouldn’t report it, just wanted it back. They all denied it.
